Starting & Running a Small Business book by Michael Towle

Written by Michael Towle, this book is a practical guide to starting and running a small business in the United Kingdom. It's aimed at people who have little or no experience at running a business. It covers many of the things you'll need to deal with, including finding premises, finding and managing staff, raising finance, sales and marketing, managing customers and suppliers, dealing with cash flow problems, and more. It's not a theoretical guide, and neither does it present you with endless lists of things you need to do. It talks about the things you need to think about, and the practical issues you're likely to encounter. All the information the author imparts to the reader is gained through his 40 years experience at running small businesses. Many of the matters discussed in the book are there because they happened to him, and he dealt with them. They may happen to you. The book doesn't tell you how to make millions, or how to be enormously successful. What it does do, is assist you in making the right decisions early on in your business, and hopefully avoid some of the pitfalls.

If you're starting your first business, or have already been in business for a short while, this is the book you need to read.

The Fender Stratocaster book cover

There's something very special about the Fender Stratocaster. It's been around a long time, longer than me, and I'm old! It's played a huge part in rock history, and it's played by some of the biggest musicians in the business.

This book is based on my previous book The Fender Stratocaster: 1971 to 2011. This book is much larger, and now covers the period from the very first Stratocaster in 1954 right up to 2014. That's over 60 years of Stratocaster history. While most of us can't afford a Stratocaster built in the 1950s or 1960s (sadly, that includes me), most of us are still interested in those models. Hence this new, expanded edition of the book.

This isn't a book about the great people that play the guitar, it's about the guitar itself. In this book, the Stratocaster is the star. There have been a lot of models, and this book runs through them all (as far as I'm aware), right up to 2014. It covers Strats with aluminium bodies, Strats with 7 strings, Strats with synthesisers, Strats with an extended neck, and more, they're all in here. It covers almost every production model made in the USA by Fender between 1954 and 2014, excluding the Fender Custom Shop and some short run orders. Though a few Custom Shop Strats and some short run orders are included.

This book goes into detail about the necks, heads, pickups and hardware. It includes sufficient information to allow you to identify most models. It also includes what may be one of the most comprehensive lists of serial numbers available. This includes serial numbers for all Fender and Squier models, not just the Stratocaster, and not just those guitars made in the USA, but in a range of countries, including Mexico, Japan, Korea, China, Brazil, Taiwan, India and Indonesia.

Adminsoft Accounts admin soft  accounts

PC based accounting software for small businesses and other organizations. The software includes sales invoicing, credit control, inventory, purchase order processing, accounts receivable ledger (sales ledger), accounts payable ledger (purchase ledger), cash book, general ledger, sales prospecting, sales order processing, and two modules for specific industries: AutoManager for the automotive industry, and Shop/Cafe Manager for shops and cafes. Both modules are orientated towards a Point of Sale environment.

In a world that's dominated by on-line accounting solutions, along with all their problems and security risks, it's refreshing to have an accounting application that sits on your hard disk, not in 'the cloud' on someone else's hard disk, perhaps thousands of miles away, who knows where. With a PC based application, you're in full control of your data

The software contains many features often only found on very expensive, high end applications. These include the ability to import sales, purchase and stock data. The ability to output reports in a wide variety of formats, which include outputting to Microsoft Excel and Word, OpenOffice/Libre Calc and Write, HTML, PDF, CSV, and of course just plain old text (which can be viewed or printed). It's multi-user, multi-currency, multi-company and multi-department. For a more complete list of features visit: List of Main Features

Best of all, there are NO regular payments. The software is inexpensive, in fact it can even be used for free!
